Stiff white wraps, stapled, Introduction by Robert Jaugstetter, contents chiefly whimsical cartoons about the sport of rowing from the pen of Hooten. Includes advertising for the National Association of Amateur Oarsmen, the National Women's Rowing Association and some companies producing rowing equipment. This copy signed and dated (in 1980) on the title page by Hooten. .  Oblong, 7-1/4" x 4-3/4"; 48 pp.  A few light spots of wear..  VG+, NONE.  . Stated First Printing.     $45.00

"This is the first collection he has dared to make available to the public"  (introduction). Uncommon; we were unable to locate another copy, or indeed anything else published by the artist. His obituary was published by the Sacramento Bee March 14, 2018 and notes in part: "John coached the first U.S. Women's Olympic rowing team (including his future wife) in the 1976 Montreal Games and was a four-time U.S. Women's National Team coach from 1976-79. Under his tutelage at Vesper Boat Club in Philadelphia, 18 rowers became Olympians and 32 earned spots on the U.S. National Team." Not seen in the trade; 2 copies in insstitutions per OCLC.
